How To Squeeze The Most Out Of Your Time
By Brian Tracy
How do you start your day? Years ago I started planning mine by writing everything down I would have to do, the night before. I found that drawing up your list the night before prompts your subconscious to work on your plans and goals while you sleep. When you wake up, you feel ready to tackle your challenges. When prioritizing and planning your time, consider the following points:
Key questions:
What is the highest value-added action I can do?
What can I and only I do that I've done well before to make a difference?
Why am I on the payroll?
The answers to these questions help identify all that needs to be done and in what order. That, in turn, will bolster personal productivity.
Values:
Decide what's important to you, and in what order. Make sure your values don't conflict with work. Energy spent worrying diminishes your abilities.
Consequences:
Every action has consequences - good and bad. Consider what rewards you'd reap by completing a task. Then, compare those rewards with the consequences of putting it aside. This process makes it easier to see which goals have a higher value.
The Pareto Principle:
Vilfredo Pareto, a 19th-century engineer, argued that 20% of what you do accounts for 80% of the value. When considering the importance of a task, ask yourself whether it's among the 20% that creates the most value.
Urgency vs. Importance:
An unexpected phone call or a drop-in visitor may be urgent, but the consequences of dealing with either may not be important in the long run. The urgent is other-oriented, it's caused by someone else. Important things are self-directed and have the greatest value for you.
The Limiting Step:
Standing between you and what you want to achieve is the limiting step. That's the bottleneck that determines how quickly you can reach your goal. It's important to identify that step and focus single-mindedly on getting that one thing done.
A Written Plan:
Lists of goals, tasks and objectives are of no help unless they're written. Putting your plans on paper makes a seemingly elusive goal more concrete. There's a connection that takes place between the brain and the hand. When you don't write it down, it's fuzzy, but as you write it and revise it, it becomes clear.
Visualization:
See yourself doing what you need to get done. Visualization trains the subconscious to focus on completing tasks. Say, for example, that you want to begin each morning by exercising. Visualizing yourself doing sit-ups and push-ups the night before conditions the mind to do those the next day. When you prime your mind, it wakes you up even before the alarm clock goes off.
Remember you are a winner and preparation goes a long way in helping you achieve all your goals.

Today, I have replied to 2 e-mails from upcoming party hostesses and will get back to some others. I will call a workshop lead from out of the area to see if she is interested in the career opportunity. I signed up to attend a networking/group luncheon in May where I can showcase my NAAW/BB business. I looked through the group e-mails to see what was important to forward to my team members. I will work on an order that I need to place within the next few days. I will try to find some time to call some more daycare centers/schools. I will be preparing for the 4 parties I have this weekend - phew! Thank you! ~Kim Wence, #1359
I have printed out 20 parent forms to mail out today for an upcoming workshop. I will also follow up with a three daycares to see if they would like to book for June before I move. Michelle #2228

Signed up for a last minute event next Friday. Got ready for my party tomorrow. The rest of the day is for family and errands!
I'm meeting with a lady who pre-ordered animals for bunny bash and then couldn't make it to the bash. I am taking her animals to her along with some information about the birthday club and workshops for her daughter. I'm also going to email some possible recruits to introduce myself and try to start dialog with them. I hope everyone has a great weekend! Shelley #2113

Today I met with someone from my networking group who is the Branch manager at a new local bank. She has been doing a lot of different events to get new customers into the bank and she may be interested in having NA at one of her events.

I just got back from the Bahamas Wed. and already two women that I met on the beach called me today. They wanted more info on becoming a crew member. I also slipped a few catalogs under hotel doors, inside menus, tables near the pools and the waiting room at the spa. You just never know...
This has been a crazy week. Tried to visit with a daycare that I used to work for. She had to leave town, so that is on hold until Tuesday. Tonight is a carnival at my kids (and husbands) school. I am wearing my NA shirt, and will have info available as there is a lot of time to stand around as the kids are doing the cake walk, etc...
Next week will be better.
Thanks,

Today I dropped off twelve catalogs with my business cards attached to various public waiting areas like car dealerships, beauty salons, doctors offices, etc...
I'll try to hit all the pediatric dentists on Monday - they were all closed today. (Must be nice!:)

Followed up with two preschools today. One of them is still looking at their schedule and the other had to decline because I couldn't go as low on price as she wanted. The discount would have been devastating! Maybe down the road we will be able to do something.
