The Perfect Recruit - yep again

I'm listening to a call from the DSWA and only about 10 minutes in they're talking about how important it is to picture what this perfect recruit person looks like:

Some quick notes I'm typing as I listen:
1. If the perfect recruit looks like you (or even not) WRITE down those qualities - what does the idea team member look like. The best way to build a team that is NOT a team full of hobbiests is to attract business builders. And make sure you share the opportunity with business savvy people.

2. You can't motivate people... you inspire them and then they choose to be motivated.

3. How to help a new person catch the vision -
a. training
b. coaching
there is a difference and there is time for training and there is a time for coaching.
Training is transferring a skill to someone else.
Coaching is to draw out the expertise of the team member.
Training we're almost working from the trainers agenda - plan
Coaching is following their agenda
Training there is a student/teacher relationship
Coaching is a partnership relationship
There IS a time for both in your work with the team member.
Most new leaders train most of the time but the leaders at the top level and are successful in growing other leaders, they're coaching a majority of the time. The coaching skills are ones that empower and draw out the expertise.
Training is telling.
Coaching is asking.
Build confidence by using both from the get go. Confidence gives them courage to have a bigger vision.

4. Value the hobbiests that are on your team. Stay connected with them and include them in the process and then help them create their own compelling vision to help them see what else is possible.

5. Fear of failure and fear of success holds people back. They don't believe in themselves.
